Blessings to you!  I pray this devotional finds you well.  Today's devotional is " Does the Lord Hear the Carnal Christian’s Prayer?"

💭 Reflection

Maybe you’ve wondered: Does God still listen to me when I’ve been living more in my flesh than in my faith?

The honest answer is this—God hears every word we speak, but His response is drawn to the prayers of those who come with a sincere, surrendered heart.

A carnal Christian—someone who belongs to Christ but is still controlled by the pull of the flesh—can sometimes pray from selfish motives or out of habit. Those prayers may not move the heart of God because they aren’t rooted in faith or in His will (James 4:3). But the moment a carnal Christian prays with humility, repentance, and a desire to grow, God leans in.

Think of the prodigal son: while he was far away and wasting his life, his father’s heart was still tender toward him. The father didn’t ignore him—he waited. And the moment the son turned homeward, the father ran to meet him (Luke 15:20). That’s what God does when a carnal believer begins to pray from a repentant and sincere place.

So yes—God hears. But more than hearing, He longs to respond in ways that draw us out of carnality into a deeper walk in the Spirit.

“I am not abandoned because of my weakness. When I pray, God hears me. As I turn my heart toward Him, He responds with mercy, forgiveness, and love. I will no longer remain in carnality—I choose to walk in the Spirit, and my prayers will be aligned with God’s perfect will.”

🙏 Prayer

Father, thank You for never turning Your ear away from me. Even when I have walked in my flesh and prayed from the wrong motives, You were still patient, waiting for me to return with a pure heart. Forgive me for every carnal prayer I have prayed, and help me to align my desires with Your will. Teach me to walk in the Spirit so that my prayers may be powerful and effective. I surrender again today, knowing You not only hear me—but You love me enough to change me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
